BiographyNeil Ainger Editorial Services was launched in July 2013 after I spent the previous 1.5 years as editor-in-chief of gtnews and bobsguide bobsguide (when it was owned by the Association for Financial Professionals AFP); concentrating solely on the latter FinTech title from then on - developing its news analysis, agenda and contributing editors stream - and on freelance work in the treasury and technology arena. I became a full-time freelancer in March 2014 and have since written for SWIFT's Sibos Issues as a freelancer, AFP, Informa's Banking Technology, Daily News @ Sibos, Insurance Day, Dow Jones' Financial News, Finextra, the FP&A Club, Best Execution, Automated Trader, Telemedia, FX-MM, ACT's The Treasurer, Thomson Reuters and contributed editorial to a number of other titles (some ghost written). Copywriting work available upon request. I am an experienced writer and editor having been employed on B2B magazines and online publications for almost 20 years since graduating from the University of Leeds in 1995 with a degree in English and working on the local Ilford Recorder newspaper. I have written about cash management, FX/commodity hedging, risk, trade finance, regulation, payments, SWIFT, treasury management systems (TMS), SEPA and all other aspects of corporate treasury while at gtnews, including interviews and case studies with treasurers at Telenor, Tiffany's, Indesit, AkzoNobel, Toyota, Microsoft, etc and breaking the news of IT2's sale to Wall Street Systems. At bobsguide I've interviewed the CIOs at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and SWIFT and written many technology pieces. Formerly the deputy editor at Informa's Banking Technology title [2010-2011], where I moderated a SEPA roundtable and a mobile FS conference - brochure and report, as well as producing news, analysis, 10,000 word special reports on data centres and mobiles and 1,000 word features on social media and virtualisation, I am a keen journalist who enjoys the mechanics of writing in all its forms [see work examples]. I have interviewed the COO at HSBC, Chi-X and Metro Bank, CIOs, CTOs, Visa's head of innovation, and many other significant banking industry figures such as the then head of the Building Societies Association (BSA), Peter Griffith, as well as attending events at Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg, the British Bankers Association (BBA), SAP user conference, etc. Hitting demanding news deadlines for the Daily News @ Sibos trade conference title, and twice gaining the front page, was another highlight of my time at Banking Technology; as was compiling the Toronto show preview and the topical in-show Vox Pop on Kweku Adoboli and his $2.3bn worth of rogue trades at UBS. I have also worked at Financial Sector Technology (FSTech) where as editor from 2005-2010 I oversaw the introduction of a new online website, e-newsletter, twitter account and features such as regular columns from the BBA, BSA, ICMA and other leading FS industry trade bodies, alongside blogs, more news analysis and show previews/reviews covering TradeTech, InfoSec, etc. Other duties included selecting and chairing the judging panel for the annual FSTech Awards, encouraging entries, compiling the shortlist, giving the welcome speech and trophies, and debuting the FST Live conference & expo and Data Centre Excellence conference.
